The local government of Biñan has been so enamored with the sack of ash they have been removing and collecting since Taal eruption on January 12.
According to an ABS-CBN interview with the city mayor, Mayor Arman Dimaguila Jr., they are considering leveraging of using ash and dust from the eruption on which they have previously work on hollow blocks and bricks from recyclable waste.
On the second day of Taal’s indignation, Biñan recovered two ash trucks. They make up only about five percent of the ash collected in the area.
Aside from ash fall, they also mixing recycled waste, sand and cement. Because they expect more bricks or hollow blocks due to the ongoing volcanic activity at alert level 4, the local city government is planning to send and donate them to the displaced houses in Batangas.
In the three days since the eruption, the number of homeless people continues to increase especially in the affected areas of Batangas.
