Meet Abdul Mateen Bolkiah, Isang Prinsipe ng Brunei na Kasali pala sa SEA GAMES

A royal Prince of Brunei named Prince Abdul Mateen Bolkiah is one of the athletes competing at the 30th Southeast Asian Games (sea games) in the Philippines.

Prince Mateen, 28, is the handsome fourth son of the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah to his second wife Puan Mariam Abdul Aziz. He is currently in the country to play in the Sea Games as part of the Brunei Darussalam national polo team.

Two other members of their national polo team are also from the Brunei royal family. Prince Mateen’s sister, Princess Azemah and Prince Bahar, son of the sultan’s younger brother Prince Jefri.

It was last November 24 when Brunei’s polo team claimed their first victory over the Philippines’ polo team. The game was held at the Inigo Zobel Polo Facility in Calatagan, Batangas.


For this year, their team is aiming to take home gold after they won bronze during their participation in the 2017 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Based on some reports, Prince Mateen earned his Master’s Degree in Arts from the University of London’s School of Oriental and African Studies. He is also a certified animal-lover, and was even dubbed as the ‘father of tigers.’

The young prince is a second lieutenant owing to his commissioning officer course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and he also served as a helicopter pilot in the Royal Brunei Armed Forces.

Aside from being a national polo player, Prince Mateen is also skilled in different kinds of sports and activities. He is a boxing enthusiast, a guitar player, and a bonafide helicopter pilot, he also enjoys staying at the beach and a lot more.


The Prince of Brunei also appears to be an active social media user with over a million followers on Instagram. Checking some of his recent posts, Prince Mateen performed his royal duties as he traveled to Japan last October to witness the enthronement of Emperor Naruhito.
